The main thrust of this program is to provide wheelchair ramps, but other minor repair of homes is also provided. The ministry averages about 30 projects per year and is funded by donations and grant funds.
Victoria Christian Assistance Ministries
VCAM provides needy families in Victoria with both food and utility bills assistance. John Wesley UMC supports VCAM in several ways. One, through donations from its church members and second, by its members volunteering to work at the ministry. VCAM needs two pound bags of white rice, dry pinto beans, peanut butter, pop-top meats, pop-top fruits, baby formula and gently worn clothing. You can also volunteer your time or provide a donation. ($19.00 buys 100 pounds of food through the local food bank!).
A social ministry offering connection for seniors in the Victoria area that will benefit mind, body, and soul. The ministry provides opportunities for seniors to eat, meet, greet, and have fun! And you don’t have to be a Methodist or a churchgoer to attend. All seniors are welcome! First Wednesday meets the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30am. Lunch is Brown Bag and is not provided by John Wesley. Everyone is asked to bring their own brown bag lunch. The agenda includes games and fellowship and a program of interest to seniors that varies from month to month.
Held at the church on the second Wednesday of each month. The program begins at 6:30 am by a hearty breakfast, excellent coffee, and good fellowship. At about 7am, a guest speaker gives a presentation on topics that are of interest to all. You don’t have to be a member of John Wesley to attend, everyone is welcome!
